Lean On Me

Not all is rosy - Martine Benezech

“All the tears in the world can't bring back the dead
or wash away your fears and grief. I want you to put up your chin
and tell yourself you are strong. And if you begin to weaken,
hold on to me. That's what I am here for.”

Thinking Pink in Black & White

Triple Dream
Astrid Morgreen

"One of the most important - and unimportant things
that happens to women when becoming a breast cancer patient
is that we are forced to cope not only with a life threat
and the many physical and emotional issues, but also with
a major crisis with our femininity, body image and self-esteem."

Day Dreams

The dreams left to me
Sol Marrades

“People think dreams aren't real
just because they aren't made of matter, of particles.
Dreams are real.
But they are made of viewpoints,
of images, of memories and puns and lost hopes.”
Neil Gaiman

The Blue Train

Taking the blue train
Russell Rowe

“It's not getting from A to B.
It's not the beginning or the destination that counts.
It's the ride in between...
This train is alive with things that should be seen and heard.
It's a living, breathing something
-- you just have to want to learn its rhythm.”

Survival

We will survive
Pedro Jorque Krebs

“All living things contain a measure of madness that
moves them in strange, sometimes inexplicable ways.
This madness can be saving; it is part and parcel of the ability to adapt.
Without it, no species would survive.”

Siesta

Sleepy
Norbert Becke
“Sleep my little baby
Sleep until you waken
When you wake you'll see the world
If I'm not mistaken...

Kiss a lover
Dance a measure,
Find your name
And buried treasure...

Face your life
Its pain,
Its pleasure,
Leave no path untaken.”

Becoming Real

Untitled
Ghazale Ghazanfari

“Real isn't how you are made," said the Skin Horse.
"It's a thing that happens to you.
When a child loves you for a long, long time,
not just to play with, but really loves you,
then you become real."

"Does it hurt?" asked the Rabbit.
"Sometimes," said the Skin Horse, for he was always truthful.
"When you are real you don't mind being hurt.”

Roots

The Ruler
Lukasz Maksymiuk
“Some people come into our lives for a season;
some for a lifetime.
Recognizing which is which saves time and heartache.
Don’t confuse seasonal people with lifetime expectations.

Everyone comes into our lives in the category of a tree.
Most people fall into the category of leaves on a tree.
The leaves come into our lives to teach us something in particular.
Leaves are seasonal; they blow with the wind.
Season’s change and the leaves wither and pass away.

Other people fall into the category of branches.
Branches make us believe that they are sustainable.
However, the moment we step out on our own,
the branch breaks and leaves us high and dry.

Finally, there are people who fall into the category of roots.
If we find two or three people in our lives who are
like the roots at the bottom of the tree, we are blessed.
These are the people who are going nowhere.
They’re not worried about being seen.
No one needs to know that they know us.
No one needs to know what they’re doing for us.
It’s the roots of the tree that preserves life.

Learning to love yourself is the first step
in distinguishing between leaves, branches and roots.

We know who the roots are when we are compelled to
tell someone they’re doing something wrong
and in turn they step up and attempt to fix it.
It is those who make an effort, who try to correct their shortcomings.
These people are leaves trying to grow up and become something else.

Forgive the leaves and branches, they too have purpose.
Keep the roots and flourish into something sustainable.
When we have achieved this, we truly have something to give back.”

A Fleeting Moment

A Fleeting Moment
Kay Lynn Gabaldon

“Life is made up of a collection of moments that are not ours to keep.
The pain we encounter throughout our days spent on this earth
comes from the illusion that some moments can be held onto.
Clinging to people and experiences that were never ours
in the first place is what causes us to miss out
on the beauty of the miracle that is the now.
All of this is yours, yet none of it is.
How could it be? Look around you.
Everything is fleeting.”

Baggage Claim

The Journey
James Wynd

“I met her at 5:30 and E when she started her journey.
She had 5 bags of luggage and was heading out toward the playa.
At first I stopped because I thought she might need some help carrying her stuff!
Turns out she was taking all her BAGGAGE to the temple.
Each piece of luggage had something written on it.
This was an amazing personal journey.
Burning Man is where she left her baggage behind.”

Stacked

Cards
Peter Kemp

“When you're playing against a stacked deck, compete even harder.
Show the world how much you'll fight for the winner's circle.
If you do, someday the cellophane will crackle off a fresh pack,
one that belongs to you, and the cards will be stacked in your favor.”

The Way Things Are

"If you look for the truth outside yourself,
It gets farther and farther away.
Today walking alone, I meet it everywhere I step.
It is the same as me, yet I am not it.
Only if you understand it in this way
Will you merge with the way things are."

The Mask

Sphere Finder
Lotta van Droom

“We deny more than we confess. We hide more than we reveal.
We assume because it makes us feel exposed if we have to ask.
It's easier to say "I feel nothing" than to admit "I feel something."
It takes no courage to say, "I hate you"
but it takes a great deal of moxie to declare its opposite.
Masks are elaborate and everyone has one.
It takes a while to get to know people.
This doesn't make them special; it makes them like everyone else.
Sometimes our hearts scream yes while our heads say run;
and only one can be obeyed.”
